New Documentary Captures Capture the History and Heart of Windsor’s Iconic Shad Derby

At The Birdcage, 25 Central St., Windsor.

A new documentary on Windsor’s Shad Derby makes its world premiere Thursday, May 1, at 6:30 PM at The Birdcage (25 Center Street, Windsor, CT). Windsor’s Homecoming: The Shad Derby Story— a collaboration between WIN-TV and Windsor Historical Society—offers a behind-the-scenes look at the events that comprise the Shad Derby and introduces the many people and civic organizations that come together to make it all happen.

“We’re excited to team up with WIN-TV on this documentary that celebrates the 70-year legacy of this beloved community tradition,” said Carrie Taylor, executive director of the Windsor Historical Society. “The Shad Derby is so much more than just a festival. It’s a parade, a leadership competition, a fishing tournament, and a showcase of civic engagement to make a town proud.”
