Description: Color postcard showing a young woman in a red plaid shirt operating one of the specialized sewing machines used to string shade-grown tobacco leaves onto a wooden lath. The laths are hung between rafters in large sheds where the leaves cure. The sheds are a familiar sight in the Connecticut River Valley.
