There will be two sessions running concurrently, one for grades K-6 and one for grades 7-12.
Grades K-6 will experience life in the Revolutionary Era by trying on reproduction clothing including soldiers’ uniforms, setting up a soldier’s campsite, exploring the contents of a Patriot’s haversack, and practice militia drills. Students will even get to try their hand at secret codes: how to decode them, and how to write one of their own!
Grades 7-12 will learn about the experiences of Black Patriots using primary source documents from our archives, learn how women on the home front and captains of private sailing vessels participated in the war effort, set up a soldier’s campsite, practice militia drills, and visit Revolutionary War soldiers’ graves in Palisado Cemetery.
$5/child, parents free.
