Join us on Wednesday, July 15, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM for a special behind the scenes look at the quilts of Windsor Historical Society with curator Kristen Wands.

The Society’s beautiful and varied quilts are rarely exhibited but will be made available especially for program participants. This is an in-person program, and will be provided in a safe, socially-distanced manner.

Quilts selected for this program range in date from the 1850s to the mid-20th century and include a variety of styles including a grandmother’s flower garden, a mariner’s compass, and an album quilt signed by the members of First Church. The Society has a particularly strong collection of crazy quilts and log cabin variations, some in sumptuously embroidered silks and velvets, others in scraps of cotton prints! One even has a backing made from old salt bags.

The quilts represent the handwork of many generations of Windsor women, and we’ll get to know a bit about some of the quilters, too!

Advanced registration is required. Participation is limited to 10 people to ensure a safe, socially-distanced setting. Face masks are required, and guests will be spaced six feet apart. Gloves will be provided.

$6 adults, $5 seniors, $4 WHS members

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT, but you can also add yourself to our waiting list, or register for the repeat session on Friday, July 17, 2020, 10 AM to 11:30 AM.
