National Trails Day Walk along the Windsor Locks Canal

Take a beautiful early morning walk along the portion of the Windsor Locks Canal towpath that once lay within Windsor’s borders.  Your guide is Steve Sorrow, President of the Friends of the Windsor Locks Canal.  He will tell you about the canal’s history and the features that once surrounded it, pointing out remaining features such as bridge foundations, slips, and basins.  He will also share steps the Friends group is taking to preserve the canal and towpath. Wildlife you may encounter in this lovely setting includes beaver, mink, turtles, and eagles.   Tour is limited to 20 walkers.  Cost: $10 adults, $9 seniors and students, $8 WHS members.  To reserve your spot, call Windsor Historical Society, 860-688-3813.
