Windsor Historical Society

Layers of Home Exhibit Opening

January 12, 2017   5 PM to 7 PM

Art by Camila Pena, 2016

Join us for a FREE public opening featuring artwork created by Windsor High School’s Pre-AP Art students who have been inspired by the historic architecture of Windsor’s Palisado Green, Palisado Cemetery, and Farmington River bridges. Each student has created a collage incorporating layers of their hometown. Meet these talented Windsor students and celebrate the connections they have made between Windsor’s past, present, and future through their art.

WHS Education and Outreach Manager John Mooney and Windsor High School art teacher Marjorie Renno guided the 11th grade students as they toured their town this past fall, took digital images, and worked in the studio to craft their works of art. Each work will include representations of architectural elements discovered on their walk through town as well as maps, sketches, and photographs. Each is accompanied by an artist’s statement outlining how Windsor’s landscape and architectural features contribute to their personal sense of home.

Rainbow Bus donated the transportation to and from Windsor High School and Rabbett Insurance Agency is sponsoring refreshments for the exhibit opening.

The 2D, 3D, and photographic artworks will be exhibited in the Society’s meeting room from January 12th through March 1st.
