The Greatest Hits of the Civil War: America's Earliest Professional Songwriters

June 20, 2013       5:30 PM to 7 PM

Listen to singer/historian Rick Spencer at Windsor Historical Society following a short annual meeting.  This is a program of songs by four of the nation's earliest popular songwriters.   Dan Emmett, Stephen Foster, George F. Root and Connecticut's own Henry Clay Work were known and loved by Americans on both sides of the War. These songs give remarkable insight into the character of the American people at the time of our country's greatest and most divisive conflict.  Cost: $6 adults, $5 seniors and students, WHS members $4. For more information, contact the Society at 860/688-3813.
