Significant Objects Writing Contest Winners

All objects have stories to tell. But, those objects rely on storytellers to craft their narratives. The Society hosted a contest that asked writers to weave together a story about Windsor and a story about an object. Authors selected from a Coca-Cola bottle, a rotary dial phone, or a piece of tobacco shade cloth to use as their primary object.

Submissions under 500 words in any genre (creative fiction, non-fiction, poem, letter, etc.) were accepted and reviewed by the Society. They were judged based on creative use of language, connecting the object to Windsor, and overall quality. Three writings for each object were posted on the Society’s Facebook page for public voting. The Facebook voting deadline was Sunday, November 18th at 9 p.m. The top three “liked” entries received prizes of $100 for 1st place, $75 for 2nd place, and $50 for 3rd place.

Here are the winners:  1st Place - Mark S. Fitton                        Entry

2nd Place - Andrew Coe                          Entry

3rd Place - Elena Liza Anderson              Entry
