We are happy to conduct research using the resources of the
Society library for patrons who are unable to come in person.
We have a dedicated group of volunteer researchers who will work
to answer your research queries.
Research
inquiries must be made in writing, either by mail or by email.
For email,
please type the word "Inquiry" in the subject line and send to
bgoodwin@windsorhistoricalsociety.org.
Please include your mailing address, daytime telephone number, and email
address with all requests.
-
Be
specific and reasonable in your research questions.
“Tell me about the Phelps family” is too general.
“What information do you have about Stoughton family
members living in Windsor in the 1600s?” or “Where was Joe Smith
(d. 1790) buried?” are better questions.
-
Include
information such as dates of birth, death, or marriage, places
lived, name of spouse, etc. in your query.
-
Inform
us of the maximum research and photocopy fees you are willing to
pay. A postage charge
may also apply.
-
We
will bill you after completing the research or meeting your maximum
fee, whichever comes first.
-
Payment
must be received before we will send research materials.
Please make checks out to the Windsor Historical Society.
-
Because
volunteers answer research queries, please be aware that it may take
several weeks to receive a response.
