We encourage
researchers to use our rare books, manuscripts, ephemera, oversized maps
and other archival materials. Appointments
are necessary to use our Special Collections.
Please call the librarian at (860) 688-3813 to discuss your
research topic and to make an appointment.
A description of some
of our collections may be found on the
Finding Aids page.
Handling Special
Collections
Please be aware of the
historical value and fragility of the collections. We ask that you handle materials carefully so we can preserve
and protect them for future generations.
·
Manuscripts must be placed flat on the tables,
not held in your hands or on your lap.
·
No object may be laid on top of materials.
·
Note paper, note cards and laptops must be used
on the table top next to items.
·
No materials are to be removed for any reason
without staff permission.
Permission to
Publish Manuscripts and Archives
Permission to publish must be obtained in writing
from the curator. In giving
permission to publish a manuscript, the Windsor Historical Society does
not surrender its own right to publish the manuscript or to grant
permission to others to publish it; nor does the Society assume any
responsibility for infringement of copyright or of literary or
publication rights to the manuscript held by others.
