John Brown:  The Connecticut (and Windsor) Roots of an American Legend

Evangelist, anti-slavery crusader, terrorist, and martyr: America never forgets nor fully reconciles its perspectives on John Brown, the Connecticut native with Windsor forbears whose fiery rhetoric and controversial activism blazed the trail that led to our Civil War.  Historian Bill Hosley leads participants on an armchair tour of art, objects and historic sites associated with John Brown, recalling the drama and issues of his life and reviewing how his legacy has been interpreted, preserved, and expressed.  COST: $6 adults, $5 seniors and students, $4 members.  For more information, contact the Society at 860/688-3813.
