Early 19th Century Fashion as Reflected in Jane Austen’s Fiction

This program will give participants a deeper understanding of Howard family members’ clothing in the new rooms of Windsor Historical Society’s Strong-Howard House. Dressed in authentic Regency attire, dynamic performance artist Kandie Carle gives a detailed overview of early 19th century gentlemen’s and ladies’ clothing.

Carle will then focus on early 19th century novelist Jane Austen, sharing excerpts from novel passages and personal letters to show how Austen used clothing and fashion to enhance story lines and define character and class in her novels.  Following wing the performance, enjoy a selection of delicious finger foods and teas.   Cost for the event is $12 for adults, $11 for seniors and students, and $10 for WHS members.  Reserve your spot for this limited-enrollment program by October 31 by contacting the Society at 860/688-3813 or info@windsorhistoricalsociety.org .
