Civil War Living History Day

October 20       10 AM – 4 PM


Step back in time and experience how the Civil War affected soldiers and civilians alike.  Re-enactment stations on the grounds of Windsor Historical Society will include soldier’s tents and cooking stations where you can find out more about the uniforms, weaponry, camp furnishings, and food.  Drill with the soldiers, visit the Civil War medicine station, hear about the experiences of a Civil War doctor, trek across the street to Palisado Cemetery where Society Director Christine Ermenc will point out gravestones and talk about Windsor people affected by and influencing the Civil War.  Did you know that Ulysses Grant had Windsor roots?  COST: FREE.  Refreshments will be sold.  For more information, contact the Society at 860/688-3813.
