Behind the Mask: Living History Workshop

November 11, 2015       10 AM to noon

An Ignition Grant from the Greater Hartford Arts Council enabled the Society to work with director Kandie Carle, and actors Susan Buchholz, and Walter Mantani who performed as Ann and Nathaniel Howard in the Spring of 2015. How did they bring these people to life? What historic source materials did they find most useful? What challenges did they experience before and during the performances and how did they address them? Living history is far more than putting on a costume and leading a tour; join us at Windsor Historical Society on November 11 from 10 a.m. to noon and learn how the techniques of history and theater combine in fascinating ways.

At the programís start, Buchholz and Mantani performing as Ann and Nathaniel Howard will welcome you into their home. Then, we will reconvene to discuss how the actors were recruited and auditioned, the research and rehearsal process, how we publicized and evaluated the programs, and what our audiences especially liked. The cost of this program is free. Space is limited; to make your reservation, contact the Society by November 10 by calling 860/688-3813. This program is offered in conjunction with the Connecticut League of History Organizations.
